HPI Thru-Tubing Release Systems
(TTRS) allow users to
disengage the upper portion of an E-line toolstring from the lower
portion. Users have the
option to disengage at any time while in the well. TTRS allow
users to release from stuck tools, avoid fishing jobs and retrieve
expensive wireline tools i.e., shooting gamma guns, CCLs, weight bars,
etc. TTRS are easily
redressed and reused in the field.
Typical reasons to disengage are; a stuck toolstring, a toolstring not
able to re-enter tubing, features developing on the lower portion of the
toolstring, features that make it preferable to drop the lower portion
to bottom, e.g., bowed perforating guns, burrs on perforating guns,
stuck anchor buttons on chemical cutters, swollen cutters and severing
tools, etc.
HPI offers selective and automatic TTRS. Selective
models release upon command, i.e., the E-Line operator sends a signal to
disengage. Automatic models are placed at the top of
perforating guns and cutters. They automatically disengage when the tool
fires. Once a TTRS has disengaged the lower tool portion is left behind with a
standard fishing profile looking back to the surface.
HPI offers numerous release systems:
